Historic Camden – McCaa’s Tavern
222 Broad St, Camden, SC 29020
Part of the Southern Gothic Festival.
Ghosts, ghouls, and graveyards have fascinated people for centuries—but why? In this engaging session, storyteller and historian Kim Poovey explores the origins of our obsession with the haunted and the macabre. From centuries-old folklore to the evolution of the Gothic genre in literature, film, and art, Poovey traces how ghost stories continue to reflect cultural fears, moral anxieties, and the thin veil between memory and myth.
A must for lovers of Gothic fiction, eerie history, and the enduring power of a good ghost story.
